Nettie Lowenstien, Chair, Health Committee

Since coming to Stonebridgeat Montgomery in 2004, Nettie has been active with their health, food, and advocacy committees as well as the ORANJ Health Care Committee. Now chairman, one of her objectives for the Health Committee is to inform ORANJ members of significant health service issues in various CCRCs through discussions and seminars and to help CCRCs increase their awareness of federal and state health initiatives .

Nettie was born in Mannheim, Germany, lived for 7 years in France, and came to the US in 1941. She studied at the Pratt Institute and Howard University and took courses at the Rutgers School of Social Work. From ’64-‘74 Nettie worked as a social worker for the NJ Consultation Services of the Neuro-Psychiatric Institute in Skillman, NJ and subsequently became Director of Visiting Home Health Aides Services of Middlesex County. Since retiring in 1993 she has volunteered for the American Red Cross and active in their program of tracing families caught in the Holocaust and other International disasters. She has also been a hospice volunteer.
