Treasurer Chair, Communications Committee
Maggie Heineman moved to Medford Leas in 2001. Her volunteer work there has included helping in the Fitness and Aquatics Department, outdoor work with the Trails and Sites Committees on both campuses, chair of the Holiday Craft Fair, coordinator of the Medford Leas Singers, and various technical jobs, such as layout for the newsletter and literary journal and building websites for both the Medford Leas Resident Association and the Medford Leas administration.
In 2004 she was asked to establish a website for ORANJ. She currently serves as Communications Chair and updates content for the website, which is programmed by our webmaster, Ann Campbell. As vacancies arose she became Secretary/Treasurer and newsletter editor.
In 2004, at the age of 67, she took up bicycling. During the next few years she raised over $20,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society by participating in their fund-raising rides. A bicycling vacation in Poland with a grandson, and achieving her “bucket list” goal of bicycling a Century (100 miles in one day), were other highpoints of that time. Now she enjoys being a “cat lady” who takes her cat out each morning on a leash.
