Participants from nineteen of the twenty-six ORANJ communities discussed a variety of topics, including New Jersey’s ANCHOR payments to residents of CCRCs.
Conversation was wide-ranging in the number of subjects raised and engaged a good number of participants, both first-timers as well as regulars, and included sufficient correction of some information first spoken as fact. It also provided opportunities for president and vice presidents to describe ORANJ and how it functions.
Specifically discussed were:
- Is there in interest in immigration as a topic at the October Plenary? Answer seemed to be yes particularly in relation to staffing issues.
- A nomination committee will be active this summer in preparation for election of ORANJ officers in October. There is an immediate need for a treasurer.
- Please send an email with names and contact information for new Resident Association officers to oranjccrc@gmail.com.
- Navigating difficulties with Medicare/Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D was discussed as a possible topic for the October Plenary.
- Many folks have not received their Anchor Program payments. No one had information as to why. The status of individual applications is available on the state’s website.
- A question about insurance led to a discussion of CCRC’s liability for trip and fall accidents on sidewalks, etc. Residents should be proactive in reporting tripping hazards. Several comments participants indicated that their maintenance department takes care of such issues as they occur.

If you are hoping to catch up with those who were present Wednesday, use the link and passcode provided.
Perhaps someone you know OR you may be thinking about the now-open office of ORANJ Treasurer. Tell the president of your residents association you’d like more information.
Great summary of the conversation
I wish I was more savvy to know how to download and save to report to the council meeting on the 15 this month at Pines Village
