Twenty-seven residents from at least sixteen communities discussed methods of appreciating and retaining staff at their respective communities. Some of the scholarship funds were in the thousands of dollars. There were also “serving staff” of the month and “back of house” of the month awards made at various CCRCs. The differences between how these matters are handled at for-profit vs. not for-profit communities was discussed. One idea was to list how gifts were distributed to all of the different functional categories of staff. Unsurprisingly, a pay raise seems to help in many cases.
We were alerted that the annual ORANJ occupancy survey has been distributed. The submission date is June 1st.
The amount of medical deduction allowed for life care plans was examined and, finally, many of the safety precautions and necessities of various communities were enumerated.
There was no recording made of this month’s meeting.
