Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act

congress.govOn April 18, 2016 the Philadelphia Inquirer had an article “Deductible Care” which started off by describing the various medical-expense deductions available to residents of CCRCs.

The last section of the article was brief explanation of the “Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act of 2013.” It turns out that the bill was re-introduced in 2015 and by following this link to H.R.837 – Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act of 2015 you can find the text, the summary,  and the names of the sponsor, Mike Fitzpatrick (R, PA) and of the 19 co-sponsors.

Summary: “Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish and implement a demonstration project under titles XVIII (Medicare) and XIX (Medicaid) of the Social Security Act to evaluate the use of capitated payments made to eligible continuing care retirement communities for residential care coordination programs.”

Nine of the co-sponsors are from Pennsylvania, four Republicans and five Democrats). There are 7 other Republican co-sponsors from Florida, Texas, Colorado, and Ohio and 3 more Democratic co-sponsors from Texas, Colorado, and Virginia. An identical bill was introduced in the Senate by a Republican from Iowa with co-sponsors from Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Colorado.
