The Organization of Residents Associations of New Jersey

Summary of the April Second Wednesday Conversation —

At least thirty-seven residents from twenty-one communities gathered via Zoom on Wednesday 9 April 2025.

Several responded to the question asked in the meeting invitation, IS TRAVEL OFFERED IN YOUR CCRC?

Also, how do we deal with residents who have mobility issues?

It was noted that Medford Leas does not have an Activity Director; activities are resident led and the administration works with the residents.

One question asked if there is a law in NJ that states a Memory Care unit must be a separate entity? Are
I/L, A/L, and Memory Care units included in the Residents Associations?
One person thinks there is a law and she will send a response to the blog. Several others stated how their CCRC deals with that. Apparently Medicare has rules on this issue.

  2. Crestwood Manor’s Constitution states “Membership shall be limited to the residents who are under contract with Crestwood Manor. Contracts include both ‘Residence and Care’ Agreements and ‘Rental’ Agreements. Residents who transition from ILU (Independent Living Unit) to ESP (Expanded Services Program) and/or to the Health Center with an original Resident and Care Agreement are still under contract. These residents shall be members of the Association.” There are no dues.

By-Laws state “All members of the Resident Association shall be entitled to one vote at regular or special meetings.”
